The Data Standard sets out a common format and rules for Credit Providers and Credit Reporting Bodies to follow when sending and receiving credit account data, and events that happen on those accounts (e.g. when a new account is opened). Its purpose is to promote better consistency and data quality for credit reports. Arca and industry follow guiding principles to develop and manage the Data Standard, so that the integrity of the credit reporting system is maintained. 

The Data Standard does not contain legal or compliance advice. Legal and compliance advice should be obtained by each respective signatory to address their respective legal obligations. The Data Standard doesn’t cover the following items that you may see on a credit report: credit enquiries (information about the applications for credit customers have made), credit ratings/scores, commercial credit information, public record information e.g. personal insolvency information, or information about who has looked at your credit report.
